Johnny Boy

History often retains only two names in a band, generally those who compose (Jagger / Richards, Strummer / Jones, Barat / Doherty …). It is probably in order not to leave anyone in anonymity that Nicky Larsen and Salo Jr preferred fomenting their conspiracy as a duo. Light as an albatross, ousting the constraints of a traditional line-up, Johnny Boy abandons the idea of a band in favour of a welded and complementary binomial.
Whatever costume you want them to endorse, they still feel too cramped. They actually prefer sonic adventure. Armed with drum machines and synths, pulling scathing, lumpy or noisy sounds from a Telecaster, they hold on to the power and arrogance of punk rock, combine it with pop melodies and elementary electro spurs , to give birth to a disenchanted and conquering post-punk, revealing influences such as Suicide, Buzzcocks, PIL or The Hives.
Feeling equally at home in a Berlin squat as in front of a big festival audience, offering a generous and energetic live show, sometimes to exhaustion, Johnny Boy performed nearly 200 concerts in France, Belgium, Germany, England, Switzerland and Russia, from the most formal venues to the most underground ones, sharing the stage with Shy Child (U.S.), The Rakes (UK), The Death Set (U.S.), Les Thugs (FR), Dead Kids (UK), Cheveu (FR), Hushpuppies (FR), Sexy Sushi (FR), Minitel Rose (FR)…
After the Dialectik Noise EP in 2008, soon followed by a split vinyl LP with the band Anes et Bateaux, Johnny Boy returned to the studio in 2010 to give birth to the Modern Idol EP, accompanied with remixes. Already available as a vinyl LP (Anywave Rec), the digital version of Modern Idol will be released on ITunes on the 1st of February 2011, and on all other platforms the 8th of February 2011 (Laitdbac / Module).
According to some, Johnny Boy recently got back to composing. An album soon ?
